According to the dictionary, "Fresta", a Portuguese word, is a narrow opening that allows the passage of light and air; a slit, a gap or simply a small opening in a wall or roof for ventilation and lighting. Considering these contexts, one could add: "Fresta" is also the gap that invites a curious look and sharpens the imagination for discoveries.

When the Colectivo Gabirú entered the Bairro do Rego (Lisbon) for the first time, they observed it with the surprise of a stranger's senses. On an aimless walk, its members collected the region's peculiarities and sketched out a scenario about the past and the near future in conjecture. What would the hustle and bustle of scaffolding between the traditional buildings mean? Or the trail of noise left behind by the tireless planes and trains? There are numerous questions that have aroused the group's interest in this place.

The Lisbon City Council's Artistic Residency for Technological and Multimedia Arts facilitated the deepening of this first contact and brought them closer to the multiculturalism of the residents and the life of the neighborhood by providing a three-month studio space in Rua Augusto Abelaria for the conception of works and group meetings. "Fresta" is an exhibition by Coletivo Gabirú, made up of Pablo Díaz, Thaynã Targa and Fabio Curi. It is the result of the Artistic Residency for Technological and Multimedia Art - LAAR, offered by the Câmara Municipal de Lisboa.
